This summer more than sixty artists from Sydenham, Forest Hill and further afield will showcase their work during the last two weekends of the festival. We aim to bring the visual arts to your doorstep with exhibitions in cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops.

During the last two years Artists’ Trail followers have told us how much they have enjoyed the experience of “looking through the keyhole” by visiting artists in their own homes and studios. This year we’ve searched out even more open houses and studios for you to visit, most of them located in the heart of Sydenham.

Ever wondered how the amazing fights for The Matrix or Pirates of the Caribbean were created and filmed? Well, here is your chance to find out.

with Joe Golby & Keith Wallis

For two nights only fight and stunt choreographers, Keith Wallis and Joe Golby, will be teaching an unarmed staged combat workshop. Together they have performed fights for Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and feature films including Ridley Scott’s epic Robin Hood.

Discover the tricks of the trade in a fun and exhilarating workshop. The workshops are aimed at two age groups: 12-16 & 16+. It is essential that participants have no pre-existing medical conditions.

Last year, Joe and Keith worked as fight directors on The Three Musketeers at The Dolphin Pub, Sydenham, where Joe also appeared as Porthos.

A unique collaboration between local theatre companies and Sydenham Arts Festival, the Pop Up Theatre Project brings free theatre into the high street.

How it works

There are FOUR theatre companies performing at FOUR separate venues (map coming soon). Performances at each venue start at the same time and there are FIVE performances at each venue on each day.

Performance times on each day are:
Friday 15th July: 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm & 7pm
Saturday 16th July: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm & 5pm

Visit one, two, three or all four venues on the Pop Up Theatre Trail in any order you wish. This event is FREE, though donations to the participating theatre companies are very welcome.

Spend an evening in the company of Cedric Hatworthy Esq, late of this parish. An English gentleman, eccentric and collector. If you’re lucky, he may bring along some of his favourite artefacts. But don’t, whatever you do, touch them. Because that’s what started all the trouble in the first place…
