heya,
i’ve only just discovered this workshop and have sadly missed it but i was wondering if susan walker was available for any further workshops.
i’ve been trying to trace my dad’s dad, or any of his family for a few years and would be thrilled with any help that might be available for me.
my grandad was a black american gi and stationed in the uk at the end of world war two and all i have managed to find out so far is his name, which battalian he was in, roughly when he was in the uk and that it often made pretty challenging for black gis from america to continue seeing their white/corcasion partners or marry them if that was what they wished. there has even been a bbc documentry on this particular subject called brown babies, i think.
i know this kind of thing is extremely uncertain in outcome but perhaps my grandad, or even any other family of his would like to know how my dad is doing and my dad is absolutely for me trying to trace his dad.
apologies if this post is a little long, just reaching out and hoping i can move some further on this journey…
warmest wishes,
amy
